Reading Time Estimation
Reading time is estimated based on the following average speeds:
- Chinese silent reading: ~400-600 chars/min (using 500)
- English silent reading: ~200-300 words/min (using 250)
- Chinese speaking: ~250 chars/min
- English speaking: ~150 words/min
- Writing speed: ~50-80 chars/min (using 60)
The tool automatically weights the calculation based on the Chinese-to-English ratio in your text for a more accurate estimate.
User Guide
This tool provides comprehensive text statistical analysis suitable for writing, editing, academic research, and more. Here is a detailed guide:
Step 1: Enter your text. Paste or type the text you want to analyze in the text box. You can also click the "Load Sample" button to quickly load a sample text to experience the features. Mixed Chinese-English text is supported; the tool automatically recognizes different character types. Statistics update automatically in real time as you type or modify the text.
Step 2: View statistics. The statistics area displays metrics in card format. The three most important metrics (Total Characters, Chinese Characters, English Words) are highlighted in orange. Hover over a card to see a subtle highlight effect. All data is accurate to the individual character.
Step 3: Check reading time. Below the statistics area, three time estimates are displayed: silent reading time, speaking time, and writing time. These are calculated based on industry average speeds and are for reference only. Adjust proportionally if your reading speed is faster or slower.
Step 4: Analyze keyword frequency. The "Keyword Frequency Analysis" area automatically extracts the top 10 most frequent terms. Chinese uses n-gram analysis (2-4 character combinations), while English splits by whitespace and filters common stop words (e.g. the, is, a). Each keyword shows its count and a visual bar to help you quickly understand the article's theme and vocabulary distribution.
Step 5: Copy or clear. Click "Copy All" to copy the text to the clipboard; click "Clear" to empty the text box and reset all statistics. All operations are performed locally in the browser; text is never uploaded to any server.
